SPOTLIGHT INTERVIEW: HANNA PERSSON

Digital creator Hanna Persson shares her thoughts on home styling as well as some insights on family life, including some of the surprises that come with being a mum!

Hanna Persson is a hugely successful influencer and digital creator with her own podcast and media production company. Hanna is mum to a little boy, Nisse, and speaks in a really open and down-to-earth way about all things parenting!

We caught up with Hanna after she decorated her little one’s room with some of the latest pieces from JOX to find out a bit more about her home styling, what kind of parent she is and the best piece of parenting advice she’s ever been given…

ON HOME AND STYLING

WHEN IT COMES TO STYLING YOUR HOUSE…. WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS YOUR “VIBE”? HOW WOULD YOU SUM UP YOUR IDEAL LOOK FOR A HOUSE?

We just moved to a house built in 1967 that has been renovated in 2001. Right now I’m feeling a bit lost on what my style actually is.

I do like a bit of arty 1970s with a lot of wooden material and soft textiles.

HAS YOUR HOME STYLING CHANGED SINCE YOU BECAME A PARENT? TELL US HOW!

Well, to go from living with a pedantic person (my partner… and actually me too!) to living with my child has definitely changed our interior style.

Before, funnily enough, I had a vision that "toys belong in the kids room". Well, not really. Now it’s toys everywhere!

And dishes. And laundry. But in the end, that’s really nothing to feel anxious about if you think about in the grander scheme of things. This is the way it’s supposed to be. It’s almost creepy when houses are too clean, right?

ON THE NEW JOX COLLECTION

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT THE LATEST JOX COLLECTION? THERE ARE LOTS OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF PIECES HERE - DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE PIECE (OR MAYBE A FEW IF YOU CAN’T CHOOSE!)?

I love it of course! The desk is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen! It matches perfectly in our 1960s house. I'm in love with the green colors in everything from the wall decoration to the armchairs. It's colorful and fun without feeling childish.

AND WHICH DO YOU THINK WILL BE THE MOST USEFUL?

I think it's the desk. Nisse is already using it after preschool for coloring!

ON BEING A PARENT

ARE YOU THE KIND OF PARENT YOU THOUGHT YOU’D BE? IS PARENTING WHAT YOU’D THOUGHT IT WOULD BE? ANY SURPRISES?!

It’s harder and funnier than I would have imagined. Every day. I'm surprised over how egoistic I was before and the real change is not that I have changed but now I need to put someone else ahead of myself, all the time. I’m actually surprised that I managed that, haha.

But, as I said, it’s also more fun. It’s fun to do stuff together! I also didn’t know how it would be to physically long for someone, that is kind of amazing.

WHAT’S THE BEST BIT OF PARENTING ADVICE YOU’VE EVER BEEN GIVEN THAT YOU THINK WOULD BE GOOD TO SHARE WITH OUR READERS?

Play through your days! Instead of nagging about toothbrushes, clothing etc, I try to find a small percentage in me that has the energy to PLAY it through.

For instance - pretend that the toothbrush can talk, make it fun! It creates a shortcut to get what you, as a parent, want. And obviously, sometimes you wanna hit yourself in the head for trying - but I hate nagging even more!
